Electric motor sound from under dash - NOT BRAKE BOOSTER.

I'm hearing an odd noise under the drivers side dash in my 03 LTD V8. It is NOT the brake booster motor. This is something different.

To me it sounds like an old hard drive seeking files or maybe a remote control car steering left and right. The only thing I can think of is HVAC servos but I hear they make more of a clicking noise when they fail.

I've twiddled with all the hvac controls but nothing changes the noise. When the noise goes away I tried all the buttons again but it didn't make the same noise.
Anyone heard this before?

Give it a few seconds and you'll hear it clearly.

From your vid, it sounds like mine which is caused by the Air Mix Control Servo Motor. A way to test it is to change your temperature setting from all the way up (hot) to all the way down (cold), the sound should go away as it re-positions. I believe there is only one for non-dual climate control like mine and 2, a right and a left if you have dual climate control. See here for more info:

Mission Impossible - Air Mix Servo

Mine does this, I hate the thought of how much fun it would be to change the blend door... Luckily it's my wife that drives it daily so I don't have to listen to it often.

Hard to hear, but does it sound like this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbmpiqZnWzw

If so, apparently its a common problem with the toyotas.. IIRC, the pins in the servo in the AC control get weak over time, so after some aging, they begin to have weak contacts making this weird sound..

I replaced mine a couple of weeks ago. It was the lower one which was the air mix servo. Kind of a pain in the butt but doable.

My grandma has an 03 Sienna that had the actuator for the blend door go bad and it sounded like a motor running constantly. I was able to turn her thermostat all the way down then reach underneath and help it "find" its spot.
