Has any of you tried using polyurethane bushings on the rack and pinion? Does it make any squeaking noise after a year of usage? Does it make the steering more precise and responsive because in theory it should.
I had polyurethane bushings on my 99 Miata and it was a day and night difference. It gave my Miata razor sharp steering. I liked it so much that I want to do it for my 4Runner too but I just want to be sure I get the proper intended results.
I also found these great shops in LA....
Rack & pinion rebuild ($150 oem parts and labor) on 4th gen 4Runner. They will rebuild your steering rack for only $150 and they will press the bushings in for you if you bring them the polyurethane bushings.
