4th Gen Tactical Recon Instrumentation
So I am currently wanting to add instrumentation and entertainment to our 07 Runner.
Anyone running engine/chip info display / tuning displays?
How about head units, stock or modified? What chu got?
Want featured:
- At least 2 Cameras connections
- WIRELESS Android auto AND Apple carplay (we have 4 phones and 4 devices across the manufacturer and OS spectrum)
- Bluetooth audio
- Miracast (android) Video compatibility
- On Board Navigation (that is actually useful and usable)
- Hi-quality audio processing and components
- Digital EQ
- Engine Info
- Either web connectivity, or *super* reliable Miracast / wireless casting
- Video for those who aren't fishing/outside but along for the ride; and for movie and snack breaks.
Anyone running Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX in their 4th gen? How about a Speedir cam?
I think I want one. Of Both. Pricey. But damn, would it be nice to have some info displayed! Also, movies for the lady while I'm fishing and hi-res bluetooth codecs.
If anyone has a similarly featured head unit they like, that just doesn't do the whole "free floating" "We want to be like Tesla" screen thing... Please, do chime in!
Love that I can connect a Speedir IR front-facing camera for maximum night awareness on and off the trail. Seeing moose, bear, deer, elk, people, etc. in a spectrum that my eyes can, or will, not - yeah, that seems worth it to me, even with the bull bumper playing bouncer for our private club on wheels. Not wrecking your car is one important thing. Not killing living creatures we don't want to eat also happens to be pretty high up on the list, for us. As is staying on the often icy road, versus the potentially infinitely deep snowy ditch or in a ravine.
Oh, and want to add a rear view camera for wifey to not run over anyone at the grocery store. So at least 2 camera inputs are ideal, but honestly will likely add front-facing wheel cameras for spotting and on-the-fly checks.
On-board Garmin navigation is a huge plus, for me, as I have definitely lost/broken/drowed phones/tablets before out on remote beaches, trails, etc. That means losing map, entertainment & comm's if relying on Android/Apple Car play, aside from the ever-trusty paper maps and compass that aren't allowed to leave the cab.
More than anything 'need' these features, and something with good preamp signals like this is more than ideal considering our obsession with all things speaker and amplification related. Not super hung-up on Pioneer DMH-WT8600NEX, just love the functions it features. Honestly, unless I can see it looking super amazing and not blocking vents in the 4th gen... I'd prefer a double din mount flush mount or pop-out most likely.
Would also be open to dash-mounted connected tablet displays, but don't know of any.
