So I got some more done today but didn't have enough time to finish up.
I ended up having to hinge the front of the platform for the passenger seat to come back. I went ahead and extended it also so now I have a spot above my head to keep my phone, glasses, book, whatever.
The headroom is a little low but I grew up going out on boats all the time, I'm used to a tight sleeping area.
I got most of the plywood on it, next up is the drawer and table set up but I'll probably hold off on that until after I've had a chance to use it and see if I want to tweak anything before going farther. So I guess that means the next thing up is really getting a mattress or pad for it, anyone have any suggestions? It's about 78x33 or so.
The best part for me so far is I can easily pick the entire thing up and slide it in place. I plan to put a u bolt through the seat back locking loop in the front and a turnbuckle at the rear tie down to secure it. Hopefully that will be enough to keep it pinned in place and also take maybe 5 minutes to go from open back to platform, leaving the seats out full time. I'm a little worried about the cantilever force on it while I'm sleeping but I'm really set on not having legs up front to block the storage I made. I think the single turnbuckle in the rear corner combined with weight in the drawer will keep me from falling over in the middle of the night. I can always add a foldable leg for when it's in use at the front if I have to.
