Also all the 4runners with the sealed transmission came from Japan with WS fluid in the transmission, so when your dealer use the "5 quarts" of incorrect T-IV fluid they mixed it with the WS fluid it came with!

why is the fluid used in a 2005 4runner still such a problem to understand???

we have posted numerous sources & facts on 3 or 4 recent threads regarding this... ALL 2005 4runners came with WS fluid when new. ZERO 2005 4runners came new with T-IV. period.

the dealer in question here used T-IV because "they couldnt get WS" for some strange reason, as was stated numerous times in the past threads. claiming the 4runner came new with T-IV fluid is misleading to others that may read these threads & is flat out wrong.

This is my synopsis on the OP and his 2005 4runner.

We all know once he thinks he's correct, no matter if he's sometimes wrong no one can change his mind, no matter how much evidence he's is shown, I don't think he even looks at that evidence.

I think he looks at the shifter and only sees the numbers up to 4 and the 4 is beside the D not above it so 4th must be "D", and we all know he lives on a island and has a short commute (no real need for a 5th gear) so he's been driving in "D" but really he's only in 4th for over 15 years, so in his mindset, if he actually counts the shift points he really does only have a 4 speed since he's never actually has used the 5th gear, so if this is correct to how he thinks he has a 4 speed then I think he possibly told or convinced the dealer of what kind of fluid to use, I just can't grasp that any Toyota dealer anywhere in the world not being able to get WS fluid since to my knowledge all Toyotas since 2005 uses WS fluid, and now he's said the dealer can't even get T-IV, if so then what fluid are they using now!!

He also stated they don't have 5w30 on the island due to temperature. A quick Google search proved that wrong in a matter of 30 seconds. In stock in Nassau. He just types words and edits them later. No point in even trying to make sense of his ramblings.

Well I don't commute to work. You (Warwicke36) just make up a bunch of guesses as you go along.

I have lived here 30 years. I know. You a google idiot perhaps..

Toyota dealer here used Type T-IV and it's on their receipt when they did a 5 quart D/F on my 5 speed at 103,000. They replaced the filter as well.

They sold me the 4runner new.

I've contacted AISIN about this and Toyota dealer's association as well as this forum has been a waste of my time.

Personally, I doubt it makes any difference what Toyota T fluid is in my transmission. It has 150,000 miles and works perfectly.

You all can believe whatever you like.

how did you contact aisin? & what question did you ask them? please provide documentation of their reply regarding what trans fluid should be used in a sealed 5 speed trans for a 2005 4runner. & same documentation from toyota dealers association.
