How much does MPG drop after daystar lift on stock wheels?
Hey everyone,

As stated in the title, what kind of drop in MPG did you see when lifting using a daystar lift while retaining stock size tires?

I have a 4wd V8 getting 20.5 on the highway which is amazing. Curious to know how this would alter that.

Tire size/tread is what really kills MPG, just raising the truck a couple of inches shouldn't impact you much until you start getting up there in MPH. You are slightly decreasing your aerodynamics when lifting because you are exposing more of the undercarriage which is highly turbulent and hard for the air to pass through. I bet unless you are driving in the 75-80 MPH you won't notice much difference. If you cruise a lot at those speeds I would say expect to lose around 1 to 2 MPG worst case scenario.

Probably even more at speed if you level it out and or get rid of that factory rake.

What tires are you running getting 20.5mpg? I'm lucky to see 18.5 in my 04 V8.

Best mileage I ever got was with the michelin defender ltx m/s, and it held its own off-road as well.

That said, 20.5 is pretty dang good. I dont think I actually got that high.

Lift affects mileage?

2" vs 3" Lift MPG

ZERO difference. It's acceleration and driving habits. 55mph roads do wonders to keep the MPG near 20 or above.

and also I upgraded one size to 265/70/17 and the MPG indicate correctly, though the odometer is off by 5%, which is ok, because that means it looks like my mileage will be lower.

I put mine on last week. I've actually seen an increase though I'm attributing that to the alignment I got afterward. Still, I also haven't seen a hit. Still getting 18-22 depending on surface streets, freeway, and whatnot. And I'm on larger tires as well.

Ok. with one size up, it's nearly ZERO. Prior to going up one size, the mpg always read too high at 20-21.. Now it is accurate at 20-21. I can hypermile by accelerating super slowly and timing lights and get 24, but that's god awful. Or I can gas it from every light and get 17.
