2008 Limited - TIE RODS

Just had my shocks changed out. They couldn't align it because the right inner outer tie rods are shot. PROBLEM is, I had them replaced 3 months ago, low miles on them, DIDN'T hit any BIG POTHOLES, etc. The shop told me whoever put them in ... they're either faulty parts or they installed them wrong.

My original tie rods lasted 160,000 miles (left side still original)! Who agrees that these tie rods are faulty or were installed incorrectly? It's not the first time I've had problems with the shop that did the tie rods. They've had to do warranty work before, at least 2 times, including refunding me $400.00 for work they did that I proved didn't need to be done.

Thanks for any insight.

FYI: The left side is solid as a rock.

There's no way for us to know it they were installed incorrectly or not from your post...

Photos?

What parts were used? Trash bin auto parts store parts or were OEM used?

Need A LOT more information before anyone can say definitively one way or the other...

They may be. A good reason to do things yourself or double check when you cant, but frustrating none the less.

It may be tough to prove. Id have the shop manager that replaced them try to talk to the shop that installed them for details.

Otherwise, you can place a complaint with their corporate office if youre concerned. They should take it seriously bc its a big liability if they install something that is wrong on your vehicle

Why keep going to a shop you've had problems with?

All Good

They replaced the inner tie rod right and did an alignment. Only had 5,500 miles on the initial repair so they covered it without hesitation.

No charge. Took about 45 mins.

All is good.

Right!

No, they generally do good work. AND, I usually get my way if there's an issue. Some things I won't have them do. Sometimes I go to the dealer. My friend owns a dealership, says good mechanics are hard to find for his service dept the past few yrs. Wasn't always that way. Hopefully I'm good to go for another 50,000 miles or more. This truck has been good to me. Mostly fluids, breaks, tires, that's it. Now that it has 173,000 there's housekeeping to be done. Looking for a low miles, 2007 or 2008 that isn't $20,000- $23,000. I paid $26,700.00 for this truck with 28,000 miles on her, certified in 2010 for a limited, 6cyl, 4wheel, X reas (which I just axed last week and replaced with KBY's) , rides beautiful. Love this truck, runs like new.

Sadly, good aftermarket parts are also hard to find these days. Some things like ball joints and bearings usually save you money in the long run if you go OEM only.
