Gen4 4R Sport wheel offset. Suspension guys?
I've been searching and reading for days. I understand backspace and offset. I also understand that one size does not fit all. This should be easy for those in the know. I think I know - but, my decision is a thou or a couple+, so I'm asking. I acknowledge the experience and expertise here, any advice is appreciated. I'm Erik, dad who is setting up his son's first car, 05' 4R Sport, I have an 05' Tundra Double. Both 2WD
A thousand because my 05 Tundra needs new tires. Easy, buy them.
But, my wheels are beat a bit, so an improvement would be nice.
The kid's truck has new tires, which happen to be the ones I use. And, a more aggressive tire would be nice on his 4R. His wheels are clean, and shop blackout paint.
In a perfect world, I would just bolt his wheels on my truck and buy him new. We both have 265/65/r17, and like it that way.
His offset is 30mm (17X7.5)
My offset is 15mm (17X7.5)
I don't really want to increase my offset with a bolt on of his wheels, I doubt it would create an issue, other than a more narrow stance - slight, but the wrong direction. Spacers are out.
TRD wheels (4mm offset) want a 265/70/r17 or better; 17X7 wheel. /65's/ want 7.5" or wider.
Here's my question. Clean the wheels the best I can on the Tundra, and buy tires. OR....
Buy 17X8 TRD knockoffs with 5-15mm offset (I think they are 15) for one or both trucks, get him the KO2's or something similar, and I take his tires?
The real question, is - 17X8, 5-15mm offset, with 2.5" lifts on both trucks, stock tires at 265/65/r17, is there any possible way I can go wrong with fit?
Thanks for reading. EA
