Blower Motor Tips and Hints (not the frozen TSB)

I have a 2008 V8 SE and the blower motor has intermittently gone out over the past few months. I read all the posts on here then went through the Factory Service Manual (FSM).

The FSM has you check the blue 5 pin Heater Relay in our Fuse Box under the hood. A quick check of that relay's operation and verifying the connectors it plugs into were good and I moved onto the fuses.

Next I checked these fuses:
-50 Amp large Heater Fuse
-7.5 Amp Heater No. 2 Fuse
*All items described above are shown on the inside cover of your fuse box.

Knowing all the fuses were good I took the passenger front seat kick panel off (just under the glove box). Phillips head screw driver takes off the one screw and the panel will gently pop off toward you.

Inside you can see the Blower Motor and the A/C Amp. I pulled the connector off the Blower Motor and turned on the system. My volt meter showed 12 Volts was getting to the Blower Motor. I tapped it with dead blow hammer and it came back on.

So moral of the story is tap on the blower motor under the glove box and you may eek out another year or two out of it. If mine continues to quit I'll replace it with a new one.

Blower Motor Toyota P/N 8713035171

In Summary:
Heater Relay
Heater Fuse
Heater No 2 Fuse
Blower Motor
then A/C Amp

All these steps are covered under the FSM in the Air Conditioning System Pages.
