Angry Lift Gate Window Regulator Help

I really need help with my rear window regulator.

I put my rear window down the other day, and the window wouldn't come back up; not great in the winter in Michigan. I took apart the lift gate, and found that the original regulator had rusted apart.

Over the last couple days, I've been trying to get the motor connected to the regulator, and I've been having a heck of a time. There has to be something I'm missing, or something must be wrong. I get that the regulator cable needs to be taught, but there's no way it has to be THIS tight.

I've been searching the forum, and from what I've read, everyone said it should be easy. I'm definitely missing something.

I've attached some better photos. I have the spring ends in the housing, compressed as far as they'll go with zip ties, and I'm still missing about a half an inch of slack. I disconnected the black end on one of the regulators, and it's TIGHT right now.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do? I've looked at past posts, and everyone says it's a super easy replacement. I HAVE to be missing something, right?

Looks like your motor assembly orientation is off, might have to twist it around and see what happens.

Here’s a photo from when I did mine, make note of the mounting tab for the motor assembly. Then try to replicate how the cables run.

I figured it out! Now that I've figured it out, I feel like I could do it in 5 minutes.

If anyone runs into this issue in the future, it's all about getting the reel onto the motor mount. Don't bother disconnecting any of the slides, or anything like that; it's a waste of time, and won't get you to completion. Get the reel wound up, feed the lines through the nylon guide, and push the guide and reel onto the motor. It is difficult, I had to use needle-nose pliers to get it the last inch, but now it's on!
