Fj Bilstein install: too big?

I have been battling through a rusty swap of some fj struts only to find that they don’t fit into the LCA slot; they are 1/8” too wide. Aren’t they suppose to just slip in?

The later FJ' s and 4runners had a slightly wider sleeve in the strut. Just grind it down a little on each side and you will be ok.

Okay, folks. I got past that and am now starting to reassemble. The problem is that I can't get the two ball joint bolts back into the knuckle. It's like the LCA is too far away now. Any ideas?

A floor jack under the LCA to gently lift it into place helps.
