Lock Actuator or Something Electrical??

So a few weeks ago my passenger door decided to give me trouble locking and unlocking with the fob. After a week or so, it just gave up and will not lock or unlock with the fob. Within about a week, the driver door started doing the same and now the drivers door will not lock or unlock with the fob. It’s just odd to me that both passenger and driver doors did the same thing within a couple weeks of each other.

Is this the actuators? Could it possibly be a failing battery? I know that failing batteries can cause funky issues with the vehicle. Could this be something else electrical? I don’t want to rip all the doors apart for actuators to find it’s something else.

Thank you in advance!

Totally possible it could be the actuators. I lost both rear door lock actuators within a few months of each other. Is it only the fob that won't unlock them? Do the driver lock controls work on those doors?

To eliminate error of the fob, I would manually set each lock rocker at each door to unlocked and try to lock them with the driver lock controls. Listen for the ones that don't lock, they don't make the distinct actuation noise that the functioning ones will.

Then do the same with the fob. Manually set each one to unlocked and hit the fob lock a bunch of times. This time also turn the headlights on. When the actuators fail to lock, it won't beep like normal and my lights wouldn't turn off when the doors locked.

Thankfully the door lock actuator job is pretty quick. I'd say you could each one comfortably in 45 minutes. I've got a writeup on replacing mine with a bunch of pics, which may be helpful to see what you're getting into: 4th Gen Door Lock Actuator Replacement: Step by Step with Pictures
