4th gen - painting weathered fender flares

Not looking for anything fancy here, just something that doesn't chip after I paint the fender flares (they're weathered and faded). Was thinking about masking them on the 4runner, sanding, and painting them. Any recommendations? Ty in advance

I did the faded trim on my old Xterra with DupliColor Trim & Bumper paint. Looked great and held up very well. Plastidip is also an option.

Appreciate it, I'm leaning towards plastidip since this is an 03 and has a bunch of dings in the bodypaint already. The paint on the fender flares is faded really bad, do I need to sand them or just clean really well, mask, and plastidip?

Correct, just follow the directions on the can. Cleaning and prep is critical like for any job of this type and I'd do several coats at a minimum. I dipped my lower front bumper years ago and it's still solid (if scraped here and there from offroading). I did 5 coats IIRC. (If anyone sees something missing, I had the rack off for painting when this pic was taken.)

I'm about to use black raptor liner on my 3rd gen bumpers, skirts, flares, hood and roof. I did some photoshop mockups of how it would look (on a 3rd gen)

You can get tintable Raptor liner and colormatch it pretty easily too, if you want a more subtle look.

Had mine done on bumpers, side trim, roof, hood. Wasn’t cheap but turned out great IMO.

@gmhotch looks good! I had my 4Runner painted by Maaco when I got rear ended...the whole vehicle got a paint job. I'm happy with hit...out of pocket I paid about $1200.
