Stock FM/AM Antenna Reception

I'll preface this by saying I have read through the previous posts I've found on this topic.

So I have changed out my stock headunit to a pioneer model and as most know with the aftermarket head units there is only one antenna input. I've also read that the factory antenna amp needs to be powered. I tapped into what I thought was the power wire people were talking about but apparently I'm mistaken as my reception didn't change. Can anyone point out the wire to add power to and mention where you sourced it from?

The threads I read most people said they used the remote turn on wire from the head unit so that what I have currently tried. If all else fails have any of you found a superior aftermarket antenna to install?

Reading back though this I see I didn't add what wire I attached to. I tried to use the small wire (not the second antenna) that is bundled together with the antenna cables.

This is from memory but I also had poor reception even after installing a 2-receptacle adapter so both antenna leads are connected. Called Crutchfield and IIRC, the blue wire must be connected to the blue/white. I don’t think I did that during the install but haven’t had the dash apart yet to check.

Okay ill open it up and see if I see a blue/white wire. The blue from the head unit should be that remote turn on wire.
