Braking Problems Pt 2

Again attempting to diagnose my braking problem, I have found that with the ignition off, and pumping my brakes 20 times, they build pressure until about the 12th pump getting more solid, then on the 13th pump it goes to the floor.

After turning the key to 'RUN' with the brake still depressed, the accumulator kicks on and makes the brake feel normal again.

Then, after every press of the brake the accumulator runs. I remember at one time the pump only ran every 3 or 4 brake presses. I cannot find any visible leaks in my lines and my fluid level remains normal.

Ideas?

Thanks

Air.

Did you bleed them from the farthest to the closest? Sometimes try redoing the pass rear after the driver rear and start over again.

Did the reservoir go empty?

Check all the banjo bolts on the calipers for tightness or wet spots.

I suspect the infamous problem of the leaking piston of the 4th gen brake system has caught up with you.
Do you hear a slight whooshing sound when ypu engage the brakes?.

Its an internal leak of a piston and oring that is supposed to hold pressure. A member here has done the diy repairs after buying the piston for $55

If you are unable to locate the thread, let me know, will try digging it out later

Other than what has been mentioned so far, I'm thinking your problem could be the accumulator not holding pressure, or the pump not building up that pressure, when your "accumulator" kicks in the noise you're hearing is the electric motor that runs the pump, it should only run for around 5 to 10 seconds, if it's running longer than that then either the accumulator is not holding enough pressure or the pump is not putting out enough pressure, and you're correct that the motor should only kick on about every 3rd depressions of the brake pedal.
