03 SE V8 4x4 - Which New Suspension w about 1" Lift to Replace XREAS

So....I am now planning to remove the XREAS....

I've read so many threads here and received some great ideas, but I'm hoping to learn of some personal experiences, etc. regarding more exactly what I am looking for...

I want about 1" lift around and want to have the same or better on-road handling and ride as the XREAS.

Which system to purchase/install?! OME? Icon? Bilsteins?

Toyota wants $3800 to replace the XREAS...which is crazy!

Thank you in advance for any and all suggestions/opinions....would be great to learn of personal experiences.....

I have an '03 V8 LTD that had xreas when I bought it. I removed it and replaced with new Bils 4600 (the yellow ones) and new '07 FJ springs front and rear and installed a Daystar 1" kit in front to level it out. Rides nice IMO, a little more firm than xreas. Cost $750 at the time, about 3years ago.
I don't off road so if you plan on that then you may want something a little more exotic.

Thank you!

Is the handling as good or better than XREAS? Taking corners, etc.

i replied to your other posts asking about this. many ways to get a 1" lift, all depends on what your needs are for the 4runner. if off roading then look into teh more expensive stuff like OME or bilstein etc... for mostly on road use the KYBs are great & add poly sway bar bushings. KYB will be the best bang for the buck & lifetime warranty.

kyb will raise the front 1" over stock & probably 1.5-2" above a sagging suspension at 100k+ miles. makes for a almost level stance, if you want more lift without using off road stuff just add some cheap spacers front &/or rear.

ive had the KYB's on for 2 years now & dont miss the non leaking but tired xreas at all... & i havent installed the poly bushings yet.

I would say better than, but certainly no worse.

Check out Eibach on Wheelers

Just installed front pro truck adjustable Eibachs this weekend. Had 5100's before with FJ springs on the top notch. Got new setup assembled and shipped for under $400 with WOR T1 springs. Springs said 1.6" lift and I had them set at the 2nd notch which should settle around 2". Would be close to an inch if on the lowest notch. Hard to beat for the price and rides great.

Scratch this question- I found the answer in a different thread.

———

How many miles does the XREAS (and original shocks and springs) usually last? Obviously it depends a bit on driving style, but i am looking at a 2003 V8 Sport with 150,000 gentle miles and am wondering if I’ll need to do the same as the original poster soon after I buy it, if I buy it.

Wheelers deal

E60-82-008-02-10 is the part number listed on my shocks as I only needed new fronts, but I got them assembled with WOR T1 springs which led to part number SKU WOR-307957. Shows them still @ $355 free shipping and no tax which is a great deal if they last. Very impressed with the ride quality so far.
Still running 5100's in the rear with FJ coils and trimmed down for lean 1.5" daystar spacers. That kit would work well but wouldn't be the exact springs I'm using. I think mine are 620lb springs in the front which say 1.65" lift and I'm on the 2nd notch at .8" lift, but also have V8 which is close to 200lbs heavier I've read. Once the rear 5100's fail, I'll look into Eibach rear and OME lift springs most likely

mine were still on at 268,000 miles and weren't leaking shockingly.

get ride of the XREAS.
I ended up getting Bilsteins 5100 and ran them on stock coils.
Rode better then my blown out XREAS for sure but now im regretting not replacing the coils for something else so I didn't have to preload them.

Not the worst ride but definitely wanted something a little softer since it's a family vehicle and we have young kids.

After much thread reading, youtube videos, emails with people more in-the-know that I am, and all your posts, I ordered Dobinsons Mono-tubes, springs and associated parts. Lift should be about 1" all around.

One installed, I'll update on my experience!

Thanks again to all of you!
