Lightbulb Replacing Evap canister/filter/etc: OEM vs Aftermarket?

I know a number of forum members have done this job before - a result in my case of self-caused trauma: I overfilled my tank badly.
Anyway, eventually I want to get this done - I seem to remember reading here that some members found aftermarket canisters to be good replacements with warranty [does it matter?] but I wanted to hear from those that have actually done the replace and put miles on. Also - were and are you "code-free"?
Here and there I see people saying they replaced, with a caveat like "I'm still working on getting the vacuum corrected... in other words, still coding.

The price I was quoted for the canister itself, OEM, was $350

I am interested in this as well, I am in the same boat ... with 230,000 miles and a check engine light every three days or 150 miles now, is getting frustrating. In part I was thinking about researching a way to override the whole evap system and make it work without. I would be interested in seeing what others have to say.

Here is link to another related thread: Code P0456 - When its not the gas cap
