Are my 6112s leaking?

Noticed that my 4r feels different lately both on and off road over small-mwd bumps and rocks.

It seems to drift when hitting bumps at a decent speed... Kinda scarry feeling. I don't ever recall it doing that before.

Looked at the coil overs real quick and they look dirty of course but it almost looks like a film of oil... Not sure if it's from previous cv axle leaks but that was a long time ago and I don't remember it getting all over the coils/strut.

What ya think? Imma get under the 4r and inspect more closely later tonight.

Spray the front suspension down with a degreaser and hose to clean them up some so you can get a better visual. Otherwise, the driver side shock looks fine, passenger side looks a little suspect but hard to tell from the pics to be sure.

Drift like you describe could be caused by a couple things. Alignment being off is one and the rear panhard being at an angle from the lift.

I'd have the alignment checked and then you can also check front shocks by pushing down on each corner of the hood to try and compress the suspension a little and see if one side bounces more than the other. Or have someone drive next to you and watch the wheels to see if one seems to be bouncing while you drive. If so, then that shock is probably bad.

Don't limit your troubleshooting to the front tho. The rear can also cause your issue.

I'd add to xtremewlr's notes that just one shock leaking could cause some weird behaviour. Both fronts or both rears aren't likely to fail together... one can pop a leak across a seal and no long give good ride control; and provide erratic handling.
