3 gauge dash mount project

So I started on a project I've been wanting to do for a while to get a better window into what's going on with my 185k motor and transmission. I was originally planning to do a custom pillar pod but I haven't been able to devote the required time to do the project correctly so I've decided to got with a much simpler designed mount below my radio using a piece of abs plastic.

I will be using 2 1/16" Gauges; Transmission temp, voltage, and oil pressure. Here's a couple photos of the progress so far:

So I have the gauge part of the install completed. I wrapped the piece I made in so black suede I had lying around to finish up the look.

I used a leftover 8 pin connector pair from a parrot hands free kit to make the whole assembly removable:

Now I just have to install my Sender's for the transmission and oil pressure.

It would be really helpful if you could update and show where you gained access for senders for each gauge .

just curious if you didnt look or if you couldnt find more "semi" oem looking LED display gauges? but TBH im not sure if they have anything like that

i know im really wanting a decent engine temp/ oil pressure/ voltage gauge setup but i dont want it to look like an auto store or scan gauge display setup and i am certainly not wanting mechanical gauges. i had that oil pressure line break before and it ruins the whole interior when it does.

i dont like the total lack of any real time info except idiot lights that come on only after something happens, those oem temp gauges dont ever read hot until after you boil over and crack the block lol.

ya, it wasnt pretty. by the time i saw oil and turned off the engine i had about 2/3rds qt of oil all over the hump and carpet on both sides floor mats and all. even after engine stops it keeps coming out until pressure goes to zero

i just ripped it all out and put new carpet and the mats never were free from seeing the oil stains

threw the mechanical oil gauge away and put a clock in its place lol

And that is why a pressure transducer was invented. I would never run an oil line into the car lol.

I’m working on a similar setup for my v8 2uz 4Runner..

-oil pressure
-water temp
-fuel pressure
-wideband
-battery

Got the gauges in now I’m working on connecting to the engine. I’m looking at going to the coolant drain on the block for the water temp. And the oil filter base for oil pressure. And the fuel rail for fuel pressure.

Obviously it’s all bsp fittings on a Toyota so each connection takes specialty adapters and some planning. It’s defini a project.

If anyone has other suggestions for the water temp pls advise.

@the171 , Not to dissuade you, but there are new head units that can provide all that info direct from the obd port.Right onto the dual din screen.

Great look though!

perhaps im old school! And Im a big fan of autometer.

I have no doubt battery volts and water temp may be available in such product. But air fuel... Does the 2uz have wideband o2 sensors stock? Does the ecu read fuel pressure? Does the ecu read oil pressure? Im a truck driver by trade. Truckers use gauges to stay alive.

I dont believe the ecu does have sensors for wideband air/ fuel, fuel pressure or oil pressure in which case, the gauges are necessary. Those 5 gauges are all vital to engine operation. Updates with engine connections to follow.

I applaud all the efforts in this thread, I have a real weakness for round gauges.

That said, this was my solution for Trans temp, voltage, water temp, and instant MPG estimate, as well as TPMS values
