Talonís skid plate build.

I am new to this forum, but I love to design and fabricate. I build my own cnc plasma cutter a year ago, and have a 12 ton press brake in my garage.

I had a friend who needed a skid plate for her 4 runner. She had two goals in mind.
1. Protect the undercarriage when she is at her ranch.
2. Add a layer of protection to her catalytic converters as theft is very high in the Houston area.

First I got my laser level out, and lined it up on the points I want to serve as my reference point.

From there I spent a few hours measuring and came up with a cad file

Then it is time for fun!!!

I wish I took more pics of the ďbuildĒ process... but I was busy

First plate bolted up almost perfectly. I had to move a few bolt holes as tad. My friend wanted an aluminum version so I cut her a second plate. I did steel first because it is a tad cheaper to mess up then the aluminum.

A+ build man. From thr plasma cutter down to the skid project. I have a very high level of appreciation for the DIY guys out there. I try to make everything I can reasonably make for my t4r as well. And even though I don't have a garage pressbreak or a cnc plasma cutter, I has been amazing what you can do with an angle grinder amd a welder !

Skid plates are my next diy project I want to take on (all except for the front one, thats already purchased since I tore the stock one off and couldn't wait to design and build my own) and definitely helped to keep me inspired to do it lol.

Do you use anything outside of solidworks ?

Thanks for the compliments. I need to update this with my other plates. I almost have a system from the front to behind the transfer case.

I kind of want to make a few changes but I am waiting on a larger press brake... 69 tons and CNC... going to be really sweet.
