I am new to this forum, but I love to design and fabricate. I build my own cnc plasma cutter a year ago, and have a 12 ton press brake in my garage.
I had a friend who needed a skid plate for her 4 runner. She had two goals in mind.
1. Protect the undercarriage when she is at her ranch.
2. Add a layer of protection to her catalytic converters as theft is very high in the Houston area.
First I got my laser level out, and lined it up on the points I want to serve as my reference point.
From there I spent a few hours measuring and came up with a cad file
Then it is time for fun!!!
I wish I took more pics of the “build” process... but I was busy
First plate bolted up almost perfectly. I had to move a few bolt holes as tad. My friend wanted an aluminum version so I cut her a second plate. I did steel first because it is a tad cheaper to mess up then the aluminum.
