Sunroof

I few weeks ago I was cleaning my car and used the sunroof to access the top. I do not remember leaning up against the sunroof or anything like that. I noticed the next day when I open/close it, there is a weird clicky sound. Then I started to notice even with it closed and the cover pulled over, there is a much louder sound then before when I drive. Sounds like I left it cracked but I have not. This weekend I went through the car wash, and water was pouring from the sunroof. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough. Any suggestions on what could be wrong?

Have you figured this out yet? I'd be curious to know if the glass assembly is out of alignment or if you accidentally damaged the seal. Those are the only 2 scenarios that come to mind.

Not sure what the clicking sound might be. However there is to covers on each side you can pop off to access screws. I took my sunroof out to address the notorious rust issue on these. The star screws are actually torques down pretty good so yours may have been not that tight and you did misalign it. I had to mess with mine a few times to get it just right when reinstalling.

The clicking you heard is the motor jumping splines, indicating something is either seized or mis-aligned with your sunroof.

Typically the clicking indicates your cables are frozen. There's a TSB Toyota put out for maintenance, I'd start with that and see if it fixes your issues. And you should find plenty of threads for reference, this seems to be a weak point of the 4th gen sunroofs.

Let us know what you find once you dig in...
