Can I drill anywhere under the carpet in the back to add D rings for securing cargo?

They don't need to be able to hold a ton of weight... Sorry, Google and forum search have failed me on this one for some reason. I pulled up the carpet and see a ton of what I assume is thin metal/body. I assume it's probably safe to shoot relatively short screws through.. but if there is anywhere in particular that is best to use, or if there's anywhere to avoid, I would like to know ahead of time...

Thanks guys.

Yes, but not where I need them. However, I've been rethinking my strategy. I have 2 options the way I see it - either put D rings in the middle to strap down my cargo or use command strip hangers to set up a net around my boxes. Also considering putting Velcro on the bottom of the cargo containers.

The main reason I think I will need to either screw into the body or JB weld/command strip something is to mount the subwoofer. It's just free floating right now. Off roading that is worse than suboptimal, I'm lucky nothing broke the speaker or Fd up the wiring last time I was on the trails, the whole back was tossed everywhere, prompting this setup. Goal is security and maximized function. Everything that I have with me I use and consider worth having.

I attached a picture of my WIP. There will be a 16" deep rubber coated wire shelf sitting on top of the wheel wells up against the back seat, with a lip facing up on the front. Need to devise a removable but secure mount for that as well. And paint the hideous yellow lids!

So much to do, as always.
