Screwed up and bought BP-51 shocks for a Tacoma instead of 4runner

I bought these thinking they would work on a 4th gen 4 runner:
Old Man Emu BP-51 Bypass Coilovers + Rear Internal Bypass Shocks Set f – Shock Surplus

Got all excited when they came in stock and bought 'em immediately. I'll probably have to ship them back and get something else, but was wondering if I could "make" them work on a 4runner. Does anyone know how different they are?

Fronts are identical and will bolt in without issue. Rear shocks are where you run into a problem with the lower mount on the axle. The Tacomas use a smaller stud than what is used on the 4th gen 4Runner. Since that site doesn't show any good pics of the lower mount, it's hard to tell what might need changed and if it's possible at all. It might be possible to replace the lower OME bushings with these - Amazon.com: Energy Suspension 9.8108G 3/4" Hourglass Shock Eye Bushing: Automotive but I honestly have no clue without seeing and measuring them.

You could see if you can exchange just the rear shocks for one that are designed for the 4Runner.

Thanks alot xtremewlr. I had them shipped to my parents house where I'll be doing the work. I'll check it out and let everyone know how they look before I ship them back. I have a call with the company I bought them from on Tuesday.

I really screwed up, I was staring at the year (03-20') when buying and didnt even notice it said "TACOMA". It was a late night purchase, sigh.

Happens to the best of us! Just see if you can exchange the rear ones as that will save a lot of headaches.

As I said, the front shock are identical. When I bought the front ADS shocks on mine, the box was labeled for both Tacomas 05+ and 4Runners 03+. Toyota hasn't changed the front suspension at all since then other than revising spring rates and valving. My daughter has a 2013 Tacoma and I plan on swapping the front ADS shocks I'm running now to her truck when I eventually go with long travel or SAS.

Thanks dude, I'll try to return the rear. I have bilstein 5100's in back now with oem springs. I am going for the most plush ride possible so I don't have to buy my wife her own car. lol

I spoke with Shock Surplus. The guy there said the fronts have a different part number in the URD catalog but said that the fronts should still work just like you said.

Does anyone know what the difference between the 4runner and Tacoma front coilovers might be? Is it just the compression settings?
