07 Alternator advice
Last night the battery light came on. After testing at the battery while running i am only getting 12V. After watching youtube looks like a easy swap out. Anyone have advice on a good inexpensive replacement? Also any additional tips i should be aware of?
Thanks in advance.

Check your battery ground cable. If its corroded, it can also affect the voltage.

This- I was having voltage fluctuation issues at idle due to poor cable connections.

Had my mechanic do mine it was not a small job
Had my alternator replaced on my 06/ 07 last year looked like a straight forward job but my guy ended up having to disconnect the AC system which required draining and filling in order to get the old one out.

Sorry but you got taken. The alternator in the V6 and V8 can be taken out and re-installed without removing the A/C line and a recharge.

Pretty straight forward swap, at least on a v6. I went with a low mileage used OEM unit. These seem to last longer than a rebuilt from your local parts guys.

I bought a used unit from a dismantled 4runner. $65 worked like a charm. OEM is always better than aftermarket or rebuilt.

Randy, you're looking in the wrong manual. The v6 is a 1GR FE engine.
