Tacoma climate control?

Has anyone thought about installing the much easier to operate Tacoma climate control knobs? I imagine its not straight forward like I'm thinking but it would be nice to have a simpler to operate setup. The 4th gen knobs get me all confused sometimes haha

I've never thought about that but I've certainly thought about how much I dislike the controls in mine. I have a Tundra, and a Camry, and my wife has a RAV4 and all of them are much, much simpler to use. One of the only things I don't like about my 4runner. Let us know if you figure it out. I'll be on board if it's not too big of a deal.

Such a goofy confusing design. My 4Runner was broke down for about 4 months. Drove my Subaru with normal twist controls during the interim. When I started driving it again, I realised all over how much I disliked them. It was like whack-A-mole for the 1st week .

I’d love to have some normal twist controls like that, would be awesome! Someone DO IT and let us know.... Please

Love the idea but looking on E-bay it appears the 4runner has 1 - 14 pin connector and the screen is part of the controls. The Tacoma ones look to have 2 connectors so not easily done without lots of bodgery.

I don't get the hate for the 4th Gen controls. They're unconventional but I just keep mine on Auto and adjust the temp as needed. Plus I've driven rental cars with much more confusing climate panels than the 4th Gen.

I find that leaving the control in auto seems to wear out the blend door motors by perpetually moving back and forth. I prefer foot and vent, unless i need derfrost.

Seems like a more headache than it's worth type mod for me personally. I don't find the 4th gen controls in any way confusing... I think they're dated (it is a 17 year old car in my case) and kinda fugly... but operationally it takes me 0 thought to accomplish a change...

Most of the black car fleet I maintain are either touch screen or touch panel now... and man the headaches those create at 100 times more than the 4th gen controls...

I'll stick with my buttons

Lol, so funny because I was just thinking..."does someone make an aftermarket climate control cluster for the 4th Gen 4Runner?"

It's probably the worst design I've ever seen. Not sure how that ever got approval. First it's just plain fugly, but sometimes function can trump form. This cluster from Toyota has neither.

I just got my Runner and haven't really even started to drive it yet, but I can already tell that I don't like that instrument cluster.

I wonder if this was one of those designs like "easy to use while wearing work gloves."

I rarely touch my climate controls so it's not a big deal to me.

Is it not automatic? I just set the temp and don’t touch anything.
