Upgraded my roof console to one with homelink
I have been trying to find a roof console for my ‘07 sport that has the garage door opener but refuse to pay $65+++ on ebay. In my search I found that our roof console is not unique to the 4runner. The solara, camry and some Lexus cars use the very same part. I just ordered this one for $44 shipped. Same part number molded on the back of the unit

That’s a great idea!
Do you know if it will be plug and play or will it require running extra cables??

Pretty sweet find. I'd be on this except that I have Homelink in my rearview mirror.

This is a pretty common 'mod', but be aware that the Homelink system in our year models is old and will not work with newer garage openers. You can purchase converters that plug into an outlet in your garage, but they cost about $60.

Yep yep...this happen to me...upgraded my garage door system 8 years ago with the new 'rotating' code...and now I have to carry the garage remote in my 4runner.
I'm sure there is someone other there clever/resourceful enough to figure out how to retro fit a new home-link module onto the 4th gen console.

In 1995 Genie Garage Door Openers upgraded to and all new patented platform of rolling code garage door opener remote security known as Intellicode® Technology. Almost 25 years later it is still the pinnacle of wireless garage door opener security
If you get one from car 2000 and newer, it will be a rolling code opener. Mine worked fine and my genie openers are 3 years old.

It all depends on what brand opener you have and what model/year vehicle you have. My 2008 Homelink console is not compatible with my 2019 Chamberlain opener with Homelink. I need a compatibility bridge for them to work, so for now I have a regular opener on my visor

Are you sure you programmed it correctly? You can download the instruction online. It can be tricky.
First clear all saved codes by pressing and holding all 3 buttons down at the same time until light fast flashes (30+ seconds)
1) program car to the remote first.
2) then program the opener to the car.

100% certain. My opener uses an updated version of homelink and it's not backwards compatible. The installation instructions covered it all and their website lists our 4runners as not compatible.

Yeah we had the same issue where a bridge was required. It's not bad, 30 bucks plus a ton of time figuring out programming, but most likely my fault for stupidity.

There are two vertical pins at one end opposite the lights. Grab the compartment end and pull straight downward. No screws involved.
