Is a "Backing Plate" the same as a "Dust Shield" ?

Mine are rusted to hell and thinking about replacing.. but when I go to Toyota's site they have a couple different part numbers:

Here's a "Backing Plate" they want 272$ for: | McGeorge Toyota Parts

Here's a "Dust/Splash shield" they want 66$ for:
2003-2009 Toyota 4Runner Splash Shield 47782-60120 | McGeorge Toyota Parts

Here's a link to all the components:
Brake Components for 2006 Toyota 4Runner | McGeorge Toyota Parts

What the hell is the difference?

The dust shield is for the front.

The backing plate is for the rear, and is part of the parking brake assembly.

Have a dumb question. I have a 2004 4Runner V-6 and my tire size is 265/65R17. R17 that's the rim diameter. Do I have 17 inch wheels then? Reason, I'm asking is that I also need brake dust shield and according to the dealer based on my VIN the correct p/n is 4778135160/4778235160 which is for 16 in wheels. I just don't have the knowledge and any help is appreciated.

thx

Yes, you have 17” wheels.

You have the smaller brakes that don’t require 17” rims, and that’s why your part number is for the 16” rims. My 4Runner came with 17” rims, but has the smaller brakes on it.

I have one set of 16” rims that I use on occasion.
