dealer says I need two new air fuel sensors for $750

Is the AF sensors just another name for an O2 sensor? If not, where would they be located and how hard to change?

thanks

Yes it's a fancy name for O2. As said above rock auto has good priced denzo. I can confirm they are legit used denzo from rock auto a couple times on my evos. I've never changed one on a 4runner but it's pretty clean cut. I recommend spraying the sensors the night before with PB Blaster, stuff works like magic!

Also if there's room I highly recommend using the deep socket O2 sensor not the angles one with an opening. The one with the opening has stripped a few sensors for me!

I bought a Denso O2 sensor for my 2004 V8 on Amazon for $38. The O2 sensor socket was another $12.

It was very easy to replace, and it was my first time replacing an O2 sensor. I have no idea why the stealership wanted $750 to replace two. $76 in parts and max $200 labor (I’m being generous).

What issues are you having? Is the engine throwing a code?

Be careful, buying car parts like sensors on amazon ebay etc. there are no protections against counterfeit parts. Or parts that didnt pass inspection and were rejected. There is a reason they are so cheap.

I pray you don't run into what I did -- the sensor was installed crossthreaded. Took an act of God to get it out, then a trip to a machine shop to borrow a proper tap...4 hours later I had the 10 minute job done.

So far, the O2 sensor has worked fine, and my fault code is gone. I hope it lasts! I try not to buy stuff on Amazon/Ebay from Chinese sellers, and it’s hard to do. I also have 8 spark plugs that I bought on Amazon a few years ago. No problems yet, luckily.

i stopped at "dealer says"! they may be right, but the dealers aren't called stealers for nothing! i'm helping a relation with a 2000 avalon loss of coolant issue. needs a new water pump. dealer wats to replace the TB pulleys and tensioner (car has 70k). one pulley is $340! i ordered a TB kit off Amazon with high quality pieces (Aisin, Koyo, etc) including all pulleys. total: $165.

be careful, shop things around.
