COLORADO Doug thorley headers install shops
I’ve spent the last three days around pueblo trying to find a shop to swap my headers. The closest I’ve come is having a shop install them and then another do my exhaust portion. I’m curious from anyone in Colorado if you could share the shops you used. A lot of people have been weary of welding stainless to mild steel. At this point I think I might just have to drive to Denver to get this done.

Headers
I'm in the Broomfield area, and am also interested in shops that can perform this upgrade. If you find out anything please let me know.

It does help, TY. Right now I have an appointment at a shop here Monday morning just for them to quote it. Nobody really seemed interested in doing the work out here. I think HOJeepster had his done up near Denver area for about 1300$ according to the quote 2 years ago.

Which headers are you going with? I'm trying to figure out my exhaust situation as well.
Seems like the two big choices are URD or DT when it comes to headers.

I bought the doug Thorley shorty headers a couple years ago. You can find them a little bit more readily now than I could at the time.

Just for pricing purposes I just had DT headers installed last month here in AZ. Initial quote was $550 installed based off of technical guide for replacement of stock headers, but it ended up taking twice as long as he thought. They installed the headers, welded in new HFCs and new flanges. They also replaced one of the O2 sensors that was seized in the old manifold. He only charged me an additional $250 for 4 additional hours of his time and a new O2 sensor for a grand total of $800.
I've seen people getting charged upwards of $1500 though.... which IMHO is crazy.

Which shop did this for you - name and city? Did he re-weld your old Cats onto the DT headers? I may need to do a road trip to get mine installed.

Give the owner Chris a call, great honest guy. I chose to purchase new HFC to have welded up. He suggested just rewelding the OEM cats back on initially but with 150k miles on mine I wanted to in a sense future proof myself with new ones, at least for awhile since I have no intentions of getting rid of the SUV.

Thanks 0verland. The only shop I found that recently did a 05+ V8, is in New Mexico which is 17hrs from San Jose. Scottsdale is a bit closer - 10hrs, I think. I have 160k miles on mine but I do plan on reusing the OEM Cats because i've heard the high flow cats don't last very long before the CPU starts putting out a code. Anyways, a Cat CEL can be eliminated by putting extensions on the O2 sensors. Because I live in California, I do want to see if it's possible to add ball flanges to the DTH and Cats, just in case a Cat fails in the future, it would make it somewhat easier to replace.

Doug Thorley Headers compatible with Colorado Emission Requirements?
I realize this post is a few months old. Hoping some CO peeps can help me out. I have an 07 GX470 with a leaking exhaust manifold. Hoping to replace with a set of Doug Thorley Headers. Anybody have trouble meeting emission requirements with them? We're in the Denver Metro and have the dynamometer smog test required every other year.
Thanks!
Jeremy
