Question P2238

2004 T4R V6 SR5 250k+ mileage

showing 1 error code P2238. had previous codes so what I've done so far was

-replaced both upstream o2 sensors and the passenger side downstream sensor along with a new catalytic converter (passenger side).

-put in a new MAF sensor.

-new EFI Relay fuse [R16 - EFI]

-new Power Relay fuse [R17 - A/F Heater]

what else can I do since I can't pass inspection. Also I've cleared the codes many times after doing something to the vehicle.

Sounds like you went through the list on here: P2238 TOYOTA: Code Meaning, Causes, Symptoms, & Tech Notes (With Video) . Seeing you replaced lots already you need to do some real troubleshooting or find someone else that has the expertise. You may have a bad wire or crusty connector somewhere. Did you look at any YT videos on this error?

Factory Service Manual has these under P2238 code:

open or short in A/F sensor (bank 1 or 2)
air fuel ration sensor (bank 1 and 2)
A/F relay
A/F sensor heater and relay circuits

I am reading the V8 manual FWIW.

A/F = air fuel

After reading your post of what you have done you may have some wiring issues. A pulled 02 connector would cause a problem. How good are you with a multimeter? And do you have the wiring manual for your engine / model year?

no never used a multimeter and i don't have the wiring manual. i will ask a shop friend about a pulled o2 connector though. maybe i can get some clarity of that.

There are many places the wiring could be bad. A wiring schematic and some time may point to your issue. Wiring issues are always challenging and tedious.
