When my former ecoboost was running right, yes it did have more power than the 5.7 in the tundra, especially towing at higher elevation. However, I had a number of times that it decided to not run right and it did not have very much power. The lack of reliability became an issue quickly with that truck.
Stability when towing was another issue. The stock P series Goodyear tires on that truck were a joke. Some LT Toyos made it better but it still felt like driving a wet noodle when towing. There was also more bed bounce/wiggle/frame flex on my f150 than my tundra has. The frame flex didn’t bug me, I’ve driven a wide range of trucks over the years and the older trucks have a ton of frame flex. What bugged me was FoMoCo made a big deal about it saying the f150 had almost no flex, well, they should’ve tested the truck I bought because it had a ridiculous amount of frame flex and bed movement. While I know the frame flexes on the tundra, with the TRDP shocks and better, longer, stronger shackles that I can grease, there’s very little perceived bed movement and the ride is much more stable both towing and unloaded.
