Stuck “Steering Stop” LBJ Attachment Help

I’m trying to change my LBJs

The steering stop attachment (I can’t find a name for this part except this) is stuck. I’m an hour or more round trip to get a pickle fork.

I can’t get it to drop. Have gently tapped it while prying hard!

Have it soaking in Kroil.

Anybody got a solution?

I’ve tried attaching a pic and linking a pic. Syntax is right. Anyone know why neither pic is showing up?

Been a while since I posted here. This is the reason. Glitchy as hell to use.

Your pictures won't open for me, I assume you are talking about the piece held on with 2 bolts that will release the LCA. It should come off fairly easy but I recall having to apply some heat on one to get it to separate.
Replacing the LBJ is a big job, I opted for new LCA from 1Aauto that come with new LBJ and are about $200 per side. They come with new bushings too.

If you're replacing the ball joints, easiest way is the destructive route since you don't need them anymore. Cut the ball joint taper between that intermediate attachment plate and the LCA. Then use a ball joint press to pop out each fragment. You'll need a nice carbide sawzall blade because the material is really hard. I used diablo carbide speed demon for thick metal blades or something along those lines

I usually upload my images to a 3rd party host (imgur in my case) and then embed. you can embed from flikr, google photos (have to open viewership to anyone with link), or other similar. This is what I do: https://www.toyota-4runner.org/3549755-post34683.html

Thanks. That’s the one.

I only do OEM. Have 555 OEM ball joints and the press ready to go.

May try heat.

Pics are small enough and are in the correct format. And the show up in previews. Dumb. Who knows??

How are yours holding up?

Need the file extension on the end

Can even do linked BBcode, where clicking will bring the user to look at the image on imgur. Imgur will provide this to you to just copy when looking at the images and embedding options. If you downsize the image when embedding for formatting/fitment reasons, then clicking and redirecting to imgur will allow it to open full size

HTML Code:
format
[url=ImgUrlWithoutExtension][img]ImgUrlWithExtensionAndOptionallySize.jpg[/img][/url]

[url=https://imgur.com/5GNxARS][img]https://imgur.com/5GNxARSm.jpg[/img][/url] (last m inside img tag before the extension is the image size s=small, m=medium, l=large)

Stuck “Steering Stop” LBJ Attachment Help

I placed it upside down (threaded portion of lbj sticking up) and used a couple of pieces of wood touching only that piece you mention. Apply heat and then wack the threaded lbj shaft and it’ll pop off.

Watch this video at 8:30 to see what I mean.

When you go into Imgur the only option on a phone is to do the link that I linked. All the other options aren’t there. FYI.
