03 V8 changed 02 sensor now won't idle

I have an 03 with the V8. I just changed the Bank 1, Sensor 1 02 sensor (Denso 234-4138). Unhooked the battery for about a minute. The check engine light and VSC lights are all off now, but the vehicle will barely idle (approx 400 rpm). Even to start it I have to give it a little gas or it will die. Any thoughts?

Hopefully it will straighten itself out once it recognizes the new O2 sensor.

They say to disconnect the battery for 15 minutes before working on airbags, so it might not have completely discharged and maybe even corrupted the original values.

Sounds stupid but first thing I would try before buying any parts or dismantling is disconnect battery for 15+ minutes, even over-night and then try again.

Low idle and stalling following a disconnected battery are the classic symptoms of a dirty throttle body. That's the first thing I'd look at. May as well clean the mass air flow sensor while you're there.

Put the old sensor in and see if it normalizes. If you bought the sensor off ebay or amazon, its prob defective

Literally just went through this. Replaced spark plugs and then it wouldnt idle. The computer adjusted to the new state and it was like 250-400 RPM in gear.

You can still drive it this way if you need to by using both feet and shifting into neutral when stopping then keeping the accelerator going so you control the idle manually.

Cleaned the MAS and throttle body and now it is idling at 1100 RPM in park. I believe now I need to remove the battery again and reset the idle so it adjusts back to being able to breathe.
