Question 2005 4Runner Moulding installation question

Hi Folks,

My 2005 driver's side rear door moulding was partially removed by a car wash. I know, I'm never going to another one again that's not touchless.

Anyway I had to remove the seal that runs up the back of the door to epoxy the rivet holders back into place. Now I'm reassembling everything and the seal is attached to the moulding with rivets and two-sided tape. The panel itself is also partially attached to the body with double-sided tape.

I bought this 3M Exterior Attachment Tape but it didn't adhere very well. I've gotten some denatured alcohol to clean the surfaces and I'll try again.

My questions are:

1. What double-sided tape (or other adhesive) have you folks used for this purpose?

2. What did Toyota use at the factory?

3. Any tips?

Thanks.

I bought new clips off amazon (dorman brand) and for the broken mounts O used JB weld to put t hem back ont he fender.

For anything I want to stick with serious umph I use 3M plastic and emblem adhesive.
