V8 Timing belt price quotes

I'm just reaching 90K on my truck, start calling few places around town for pricing. Here's what I got. Tell me what ya think.

-1st Toy dealer-over the phone: Timing belt only: $499.95+tax. Timing belt packages included Timing belt, tensioner, water pump & serpentine belt: $1149.99 + tax. (Service advisor mentions 15% discount coupon on their website).

-2nd Toy dealer-in person: Timing belt only: $475.99+tax. Timing belt & serpentine belt: $554.99 or Timing belt packages (same as above) $1095.99+tax. (I have 20% off coupon thru the mail).

-Firestone-over the phone: They recommend the whole packages (same as above w/ aftermarket parts) $669.48 OTD.

I am surprised Firestone is that much cheaper. I have used them in the past because it is convenient. I have an account, and it is very easy for one of the kids to take a vehicle there in emergencies.

Were it me, I'd go dealer #2 with the 20% off or see if dealer #1 will match the price if you're more familiar with their service dept. A job like that I'd want someone that's done several before and uses OEM parts. I had my GS300 at the Toy dealer the other day and talked to the tech for 10 minutes or so. Found out he worked at Lexus for 10 years prior to Toyota. Guess who's doing my timing belt.

I got a quote from a FJ buddy of mine who runs a mechanic shop. I told him I was getting quotes for $1000 and he said that was ridiculous, he's doing timing belt, timing belt idler, timing belt tensioner, water pump, front crank seal, front cam seal, thermostat, and coolant for $800.00 (all OEM parts)

Do the Toyota quotes include a new thermostat and Toyota coolant? It's crazy for them not to install a new crankshaft seal while they are right at it. Takes about 5 minutes to remove the old and put a new one in.

Here are the labor rates if interested.

Timing Belt

Replace 3.5

To R&R Crankshaft Gear, Add .04

To R&R Timing Belt Idler Pulley No.1, Add .03

To R&R Timing Belt Idler Pulley No.2, Add .03

To R&R Crankshaft Front Oil Seal, Add .05

Looking to get mine done soon as well. Anyone know of a reputable shop in Arizona that won't cost me an arm and a leg?

I too am shopping around for prices, dealer wants $1k. Was going to head over to Firestone to get a quote, I'll report back once I get the price.

I also recently did my timing belt at 102k and it looked to be in excellent condition and would have lasted many more years. I probably will not bother ever replacing it again seeing how good of condition a 9 year old/102k mile belt was in.

Neither thermostat nor coolant is included. I did as them about camshaft and crankshaft seals, they will inspect it and let me know if it needs to be replaced, but it's NOT recommended.

You've got a good deal. The advisor at dealer #2 has told me he only recommend the Tbelt and (maybe) serpentine belt but not the whole packages.

i used to work for them so they hooked me up. I had both belts done as well as W/P and the pulleys were fine.

I'm just a little over 90K right now. Honestly, I'd have wait until 120K but I just got a 20% OFF coupon that will expired by the end of April, so that's why I want to get it done early.
