P0441 & P0455 Check Engine Lights (EVAP)—Questions
Edit: Skip first few posts regarding suspension for update on EVAP codes.
Hey guys,
So earlier this year I got an '06 4Runner V8. It came sitting on 285's with Bilstein 5100's all around, but I had some rubbing issues during sharp turns in the front. I've solved this by doing a body mount chop, installing JBA UCA's, and Toytec 112-620- Springs. I set the front Bilsteins on the .85 clip, and added in a 1/2" top spacer on the driver side, as well as a 1/4" spacer on the passenger side.
Before making these adjustments, the ground to fender height was 36" driver, and 37" passenger (front) (and around 39.5" rear—this has remained the same).
The current front ground-to-fender heights are 38" driver and 38.5" passenger. The perfectionist in me wants to go remove the 1/4" spacer on the passenger side to level it before I go get an alignment, but the lazy mf in me wants to say the rub is finally gone so it's fine.
My suspension questions is: how do I know if my lift is over 3" from factory? I've read I can have problems / shorten the life of CV joints in the front if the lift is too high, and am slightly worried about this, but not sure if I should be. Would you guys bother taking out the 1/4" spacer to (hopefully) level it, or do you think it's sitting okay as-is?
Here are pics of how she's sitting—it seems I may even have a slight negative rake, which is annoying as well. Any feedback on this welcome.
Finally, I have recently thrown two EVAP codes--P0441 & P0455. I have replaced the gas cap, which the old one definitely was not securing properly, and replaced two rusted out hose clamps coming from the charcoal canister. However, the codes keep popping up. It sounds like the next test is seeing if the VSV valve is functioning by hooking up a 9V to it and listening for a click? Any other thoughts on this fix? Pic attached of hose clamps I replaced as well.
Thanks for any / all feedback guys!

Man I had tried this too, and it wasn't working in the post previews... somehow you got it. Thanks a bunch! I appreciate it. I wasn't using the direct link it appears when trying to use the img wrap.

Measuring from the ground to the fender is not the best way to judge lift compared to stock height because the size and brand of tire affects that measurement, someone can have the same lift as another but different tires and they will have different measurements from the ground to the fender, the best way and what most here measure is from the fender to the center of the wheel/hub.
I can't tell you what stock measurements from finder to hub is because my 4Runner was already lifted slightly to eliminate the rake..i.e. the front being lower than the rear in stock configuration, so a stock 4Runner will have different front and back measurements, mine are around the same +/- slightly.
Hopefully someone with a stock configuration will chime in with the measurements on their 4th Gen 4Runner as I would like to know what they are as well, the only issue is if the springs are worn than it's hard to say what is the stock measurements since worn springs will have it sitting lower than it should be, also any load in the rear will affect true measurement.

Thanks for the reply. I'm wondering if there is any way to determine if I'll run into any problems just by looking at how my axles / suspension components are sitting in the pictures I provided? I've found it difficult to get any type of precise measurement from center of hub to fender as "center" seems like a bit of a guesstimate (1/2" here or there is easy when holder a tape up).
So far she seems to drive fine, but yeah hard to tell if I've got negative rake going on or not. I guess it's not the end of the world, at least I've gotten rid of the rub... just don't want to cause any damage / premature wear if I've gone too far.

I can get a very accurate measurement to the center of the hub, if you measure down from the fender to the hub, if you try to measure up from the hub to the fender then yes you can be off on your measurement, but even then I don't see how you could be off by a 1/2", in my world a 1/2" is a lot, but I use a tape measure 100s of times in a day.

Okay after resetting my check engine light for the umpteenth time I'm getting a little annoyed.
Fixes for P0441 & P0455 that I've tried:
1. New gas cap (old one actually for sure didn't seal correctly, but this didn't fix it)
2. New hose clamps replacing rusted out ones coming out of charcoal canister
3. Connected 9V w/ wire leads to VSV valve—valve clicks loudly indicating it is functioning.
So... where do I go from here?
I've traced as many lines from the charcoal canister to the engine bay rolling on my creeper underneath the truck and see no indications of cracked lines obviously visible. Any suggestions are welcome.

Check all the hoses on top of the fuel tank. The larger one has a O-Ring in it. I had these codes after changing out a fuel pump because the O-Ring in the larger hose got nicked and I didn't get it on quite right.
Also, look into getting a Techstream cable. That will let you do all kinds of evap system diagnostics.
