standard radio wiring harnesses

so just swapped my oem radio as it died out of nowhere. i realize that the wiring to an aftermarket radio wont be exact apples to apples, but seems strange to me that only 1 wiring harness is used, and the other two are just "extra" now.

pic is attached.

its an 03 basic sr5, no jbl, no fancy steering wheel controls, etc.

everything seems to work, just makes me uneasy with having these two "extra" harnesses doing nothing now.....

am i missing anything?

also there are two big silver plugs coming from the antenna, the biggest one went in my radio, although reception seems a bit crappy. also curious what the other one is for ?

You can purchase an antenna splitter so you can plug in both. This is what I did when I upgraded to a kenwood excelon radio.

I’m looking at the same scenario with my 2003 SR5. I see the splitter is no longer available on Amazon. Does the extra plug have to do with your RDS. Not sure if mine had a radio so equipped because I don’t have the original. I’m in Canada so I’ll see about the splitter. Appreciate any input as I’m also confused. I have never seen and aftermarket kit that had more the the two plugs. Not too many posts with same problem. Yours is the first I found.
