Angry Back hatch

Why do I have to have the key in the ignition and unlock the door to open my hatch and why can I only roll the window down from the inside and not by the lock or the fob?

Try disconnecting the battery for a little while which will reset the hatch ECM/computer, that sometimes resolves the issues that you're having.

After the battery disconnect you will have to reset/normalize the window switches functions, how to do this is in your owners manual, but you basically have to roll down the driver's window and then roll it back up and hold the button in the up position for a few seconds, do the same for the rear hatch window and sunroof if you have one.

May be that you just need to normalize it again

If the resets don't work, the next level is probably going to require going through the electrical diagrams.

Based on the behavior you're describing (I've not heard this one before), I'm going to guess the tailgate circuits are connected to both constant and switched power sources. Sounds like the constant power source could have become disabled for some reason, in your case. Could be as simple as a fuse.

Good luck.
