08's are up on Toyota's website

I didn't see this posted anywhere else. They are now showing the 2008 model Runner with the new pricing and options. Their pricing is a little weird as in the Sport Edition I could only get the V8 option and no V6. Is this true or just a glitch? They are also showing the X-reas as an option and not standard in their packages. I guess they need to iron out some kinks. Enjoy!

Thanks for the update!

Looks like they added Active headrests as a safety option. I wonder how those work. Also seems like they're cutting the prices quite a bit, even though the prices increased overall, the standard side airbags on all models makes it cheaper than the 2007 models with side airbags. The extra value packages also seem like good deals.

For New England, the V8 is not available in the Sport

Their website is definately on the blink. I can only get teh V8 in NY and no V6 option. It also gives me leather in the Sport with no option for fabric, which we all know is incorrect. One can wish though...

The web site is probably showing engine/option combinations that are on the way to your area. Give it time, and you'll get a better selection.

All the options are available in Memphis, TN. They might have been just updating their site.

There are different configurations for different regions. I know in my area, you can only get SR5's with a V6. Scott, thanks for the heads up about the 08's.

It's funny yesterday I was looking at the site and the 07's were still posted.

I was surprised to see the 08's on the Toyota website.

Actually, I doubt you will find an 08 on the lot as of yet. Since the production year starts in August it does not seem likely that even if August 1st they rolled out the 08's off the assembly line in Japan that they would have enough time to come over by boat and be on the dealers lot in a period of 27 days.

Which brings up another question. Are the 08 4Runners still built in Japan ?

According to my dealer, there are some 08s in port of L.A. I have an 08 V6 SR5 4X4 with 3rd row and QT pkg (includes a sunroof, etc,.) on the way, supposed to be here between 9/4 and 9/10.

interesting, i guess you cannot get 4x4 V8 on the SR5 no more, only V6 4x4, or 4x2 V8 for the SR5.

Great. SO I paid for the side impact air bags. Just ducky.

When I was looking for my '07 Sport I was told by one dealer taht I could not get the JBL system in it in New England. Drove a 4Runner Sport before I left North Carolina and the JBL sounded freaking awesome playing some Bob Seger. Think I freaked the salesman out when I turned it up. Gotta love Seger.

Stock sound system sounds cool though. The JBL was the only option that I was unable to get on my wish list when I got her a couple weeks ago.

Pretty upsetting tha tcar manufacturers make different things available based upon the region that you are in.

Don't blame the manufacturer. It's your regional distributor's fault. Toyota just merely builds what the distributor requests in builds. In some regions/dealers it's easier for them to get a request submitted and have it special ordered, in others if they're reluctant, it's impossible to get what you want.

In my region, typically you'll only find JBL on V6 4WD Limiteds and nav on V8 4WD Limiteds. Can't find 2WD in anything other than a V6 SR5. RSES, forget about it, special order only. I saw RSES on SEs and Limiteds once on Toyota.com and asked my sales rep about it, his reply, "Don't believe the website too much. Usually it's pretty accurate, but Toyota lately is writing checks its @$$ can't cash, especially with RAV4 customers." This was late '05 when I was ordering my 4Runner.

Base price on the 08 went up because of the airbags. Now everyone pays for the air bags and everyone gets them.

I heard on the '08 Runners you can finally deactivate the traction control.

Since I work in an Emergency Department and have been a Paramedic for many years, I am glad to see this has happened.

Just mad that I paid for it, but if it was cheaper and I got the $2k gas back for my '07 I guess that I cannot complain too much.
