O had the same issue with the battery draining shortly after installation. Went through two brand new batteries in a matter of days.
It turned out to be a matter of age and dirt.
I disassembled the remote and cleaned everything, board and contacts and buttons. It was old and grimes (new-to-me car).
That took care of it.
