Homelink Mod
I'm thinking of trying a re-wire of the power to my Homelink similar to the mod I did on the Nissan Titan I had prior to the 4Runner. This would be to make the Homelink unavailable except when the ignition switch is on, thus providing security against a potential burglar breaking into the vehicle when parked outside and being able to then have access to/through the garage by pressing the always hot Homelink button.
Has anyone done this on a 4th Gen and, if so, can you point me to a convenient switched power source wire in the overhead console? Is there a possibility the Homelink would not retain its programming without constant power; it didn't lose it with my Titan, but the 4Runner may be different.
If there is already a post for this, please reply with a reference to it. I couldn't find one.
Thanks.
