Hey guys,
After putting it off for awhile I went and got some professional diagnostics done for my P0441 (incorrect purge flow) & P0455 (large leak) codes. Mechanic told me the VSV on the charcoal canister itself was stuck open (not the one under the hood), and that the entire canister would need to be replaced.
I had previously checked the VSV under hood (seemed to function, hold vacuum) and replaced the gas cap, as well as some rusted hose clamps with no luck. So, two questions:
1. Does this diagnosis add up?
2. Is there any way to restore function to the canister VSV switch without having to replace the entire canister? It doesn't seem the rear VSV is available as a separate part, but would is it possible or worth it to replace it separately from a used canister, or is it possible to restore function to the old one? What options, if any, do I have besides full canister replacement?
Pic for affected part attached.
