Interesting Brake Issue 03 Sport V8 335k Miles

I've poured through the various threads/posts here relating to brake master/booster/accumulator failure, and have yet to come across my specific symptoms. Mainly want to make sure i have the necessary parts needed as the entire assembly is becoming obsolete and on indefinite backorder per Toyota.

Here we go.....

After spirited, and foolish ill be first to admit, driving pedal began to get soft. Heavy SUV and not so fresh DOT 3 and the fluid started to boil... Obviously i then slowed down, and then came the loud alarm and dash lit up with: brake, ABS VSC, and TRAC lights. THEN PEDAL WENT ROCK SOLID. Fortunately i was close to the house and limped it back. Thinking the brakes just needed to cool i went back out to start it after a few hours; same thing stiff pedal and all the warnings.

Thats when the research began and i'll admit am still somewhat confused. Several different resolutions have been found with all different types of part numbers....

The part used in eng208's post 4705035030 (the ABS Modulator Valve) which is the entire assembly, i could not get my hands on. I do have 4702560081 (master cylinder) and 4795030010 (accumulator) i do not have the ABS Pump which sits BELOW the master cylinder. Im hoping this can be sent out and rebuilt as i cannot find it separately nor the correct part number.

So i guess in short, has anyone experienced these same symptoms?
Am i going down the right path with the parts?
Anything helps!

The truck has been in the family since new in late '02 as father did, and still does work for Toyota. There is nothing else wrong with the vehicle, and will not be junked over this! Still pulls with modern V8 trucks, and tows my race car and trailer.

You can only buy the pump and electric motor as an assembly....it's around $1200...part number is

Motor & Pump - Toyota (47960-30030)

2003-2005 Toyota 4Runner Motor & Pump 47960-30030 | Toyota Parts

That being said and I know you say you already have the accumulator...but for only $703 you can buy not only the above motor and pump but it comes with the accumulator, don't ask me why it's so much cheaper than just the motor and pump, I'm just seeing what the website says, and yes I have researched both of these parts numbers and both from what I have seen on numerous websites are as I described here..but please do you on research on these part number before buying, but I would go with the motor/pump/accumulator assembly because of the $500 saving even if I already had a new accumulator!

Power Brake Booster - Toyota (47070-30060)

2003-2009 Toyota 4Runner Power Brake Booster 47070-30060 | Toyota Parts

The last link doesn't show an actual photo of the part so it hard to tell it what I say it is, but that's the best price I know of....but here another link that does show an actual photo of the part along with the same part number but at a much higher price.

4707030060 GENUINE TOYOTA PUMP ASSY, BRAKE BOOSTER W/ACCUMULATOR 47070-30060 $1,123.63 - PicClick

Also if you look at the description at the first link for the cheaper motor/pump/accumulator assembly it describes it seems your exact symptoms.

You can also find the motor/pump/accumulator assembly new and used on eBay, but none of the new one are as cheap as the one I linked above and they all seem to be shipping from United Arab Emirates or Japan.

Sorry for the long period of no response. Turns out the parts manager at my shop (European independent) had the entire assembly on order. Little upset that I was uninformed, but never the less swapped the whole assembly and everything is right as rain.

So if anyone needs a master cylinder and accumulator I’ve got them for cheap!

Thanks again to all who helped.
