Black emblems

Does anyone know where I can get Black emblems for my 2008 4Runner Sport? I see lots of options for the 5th generation, but not the fourth. I foolishly threw the rear emblem while I was repainting the rear license plate trim! Also how to I access the "tool threads" that are behind the damn ads!!

I figured out the ladder, by changing the display mode!!

yeah don't contact a guy with brand new account and only 1 post

to answer your question, I'd try to get a new rear emblem then plastidip or paint them. Mine have been plastidipped for 3+ years and are holding up really well

Plastic dip

Thanks
For the tip. Does the plastic dip hold up? I’ve heard that it can start peeling and looking like sh$$!

Is it hard to do it well when it’s on the vehicle?

I did my 07 side emblems in Plastic dip, no problems. My center grill has taking a beating, may re-do it.

Emblems

Glad to hear they’re holding up! I’m waiting for. New grill with no chrome, so that won’t be an issue!!

Thanks!

Does anyone know how to remove the rear emblem? I'm assuming it's less hassle to just mask the emblem off and paint it on the vehicle?

Its just adhesive like the other rear badges. Grab some dental floss and work it around the backside. You can reinstall with similar material or just use silicone.

Do the prep correctly as described on the can and do several coats and it will definitely last, and you can easily do it on the vehicle (check YT, there are many how-to videos).

It's been 5+ years since I did my front valance and badges and they still look great except where physical damage has occurred, for example scraping the underside of the valance on trail obstacles.

Badges - they were chrome; didn't want black so I went with this gunmetal color I think is called Smoke:

Bottom of front bumper (just noticed the roof rack was off for painting when I took this pic):

You’re very welcome. Another great thing about PlastiDip is the ability to change your mind. I had forgotten dipping the chrome part of my grille. It was too much black for me so I peeled it off.

Did mine in black “gloss” plastidip. Turned out super clean. About 6 coats on each.

The new toyota badges are black. I assume people were buying new badges and installing them.
