I just picked up another '03 V8 Sport and the rear carpet is stained with motor oil so it needs to go. I am thinking of adding a base plate instead of new carpet Has anyone done this? I know Goosgear makes one but, $500? Not sure about the value there.
So is this just a giant plastic sheet? I mean depending on how much the material is and how much of a pain it is to trim it up to fit, that might not be a horrible deal?
Kind of an interesting idea... might consider doing this for my 4th gen or a similar idea...
A lot of people have built a platform out of plywood, and either wrapped with carpet or coat with bedliner. You'll need small cutouts for the rear seat brackets like where the goose-gear pic shows.
Figure out how to make a template of the side contours and cut it out with a jigsaw. Drill a few holes and use the existing mounting holes in the floor to secure it.

That seems pretty expensive for a piece of plastic cut to shape. Your should be able to get a full sheet of starboard for 140 bucks, pricing now is probably different then last time I got a sheet, and have enough material to do 2 of those or build walls and compartments out of the same sheet.
