Bent skid plate

My 4runner just started squealing when the steering is full lock right, and the cause is what appears to be a very bent skid plate rubbing on the tire. Has anybody seen this or know what could have caused it? I do all of my own maintenance, so it wasn't a shop. Immediately prior to noticing this I dropped the right tire off of a shoulder when turning onto a street, but this is the left side that is bent. Perhaps dropping the right tire caused the left side to move such that it grabbed the skid plate and bent it? I've owned this truck for 19 years and it's never had an alignment, so I don't want to break that streak if I don't need to. Also, I have stock sized tires.

Maybe someone tried to steal your cats then gave up.

Also I'm more surprised that you've gone 19 years without an alignment.

It's the front skid plate, so not near the cats. I'm surprised about the alignment too. I've used it pretty hard on dirt roads and have hit my fair share of curbs. The tire wear has always been even though, so I haven't bothered getting it checked.
