Floor well lights

So looking for a little help here! I’m going to install some floor well lights. I want the option to turn them on at any Time, but more importantly when I open and close the door.

The obvious choice for me (not the most savvy) was to tap into the dome fuse In the engine fuse box, using an add a fuse. Knowing the position of the add a fuse matters, for polarity of course the relay is in the way of having it in the right position!👎

Looking for some tips if anyone has them!!

J.A.'s website is a great place for information, not only for footwell lights but also for all things 4runner! (J.A. if you're reading this, thank you so much)

For my footwell lights, I also added a 3 position rocker switch to be able to switch between auto on off (tied into the dome circuit), Off, and On anytime (connected to an always hot 12v source.

Footwell lights

Thanks for the article! It seems a little convoluted for footwell lights, but I think I can get her done!😂

If you have a limited you can tap the circuit for the door lights that were on the running boards.

Not sure if the wiring exists for other trims but if you tap that circuit it would have a nice fade out about 15 seconds later.

Then it would just be a matter of adding a switch with a relay to "override" and stop the circuit in the factory harness.
