What tires with lift?

So I am looking to lift my 4Runner in July as a birthday present to myself. I am trying to see what I should do and why not go to the experts?

I have 265/65R17 Nitto Ridge Grapplers on my 4Runner right now. I am looking to do the whole Bilstein list kit to get 2.5 inches of lift. Should I wait to lift it and get bigger tires or should I lift it 2.5 inches and keep the smaller tires for now? Here is the link to the lift I am doing.

Bilstein 0-2.5" Lift Kit With Rear Coils For 2003-2009 Toyota 4Runner

What tires would work best with what I have? I heard 285/70R17 would fit. I already removed the mud flaps in the front, and in the rear I trimmed them so I have bumper supports but no flap hanging. I have the running boards removed as well.

Any help would be great!

Depending on the offset of your rims. Body mount chop may be required with 33's.

I have a 3” suspension and a 1/2” body lift. JBA upper control arms. I’m running 285/70r17. -12 offset rims. Driver side body mount chop and pinch weld flattened.

I’d highly recommend 33’s. I was sceptical at first, but they are awesome. I run about a 2.5” lift with a 0 offset wheel.

I recommend installing the lift and getting those new tires on right after so you can get an alignment.

Won’t have to get an alignment twice or drive a car that needs an alignment.

Lift before wheels.

I went the 33's route just ahead of doing the initial Bilstein 5100 lift and I can tell you that your turning is highly limited until you trim the excess bumper, body mount, pinch weld, etc.

Once lifted, fitting 33's is a breeze.. just test fit and trim accordingly. If you plan to wheel offroad and use all of the suspension travel it will need a bit more of an aggressive trim, for a street rig it doesnt take much at all to fit.
