shipping a vehicle cross country

I'm moving cross country and need to find someone to ship my cars from NY to CA. Anyone have any recommendations on a reputable company and approximate price? Thanks so much.

I recently moved from CA to NJ. I used Assured Auto Movers from California. It cost me $1k and delivered after 14 days. It was picked-up and delivered by flat-bed. I never saw it in the trailer. They actually washed the 4runner before they gave it to me.

The only gripe is that the driver called me 12 days into transit and said it's coming but the driver called back to say he needs to head to Boston first which is irritating since I'm along the way. I think the 4runner was way inside the trailer so the driver decided to deliver there first.

My brother in law had a vehicle shipped from San Diego to Wash. DC. I think he said the price was between $800-$1,000 and they pick it up and drop it off at your driveway. Sorry he didnt say the name of the company.

Thanks for the replies. I called around a few places too, and got quotes of around $1000. This is for uncovered transport. I'm thinking about covered since my 4runner is new. I got a quote of $1750 and $2580. Still debating whether it's worth the extra $750 to $1500 for covered transport.

We moved my wife's car to DC and then back to San Diego a few years later. I think it was a little over 1000 for uncovered each time. I can't remember the name of the company that we went with, but I do know that they just contracted it out each time. Basically an independent contractor with a dually and a car trailer that held a few cars.

I just had a 5th gen shipped from IL -> Seattle for $1425. Holidays are pushing up prices for transportation/drivers/gasoline so that's something to compete with.
